Client Quote #26: 7pm

It’s hard to figure out exactly where these old food rules came from. The rationale seems to be that late night eating leads to more weight gain.

We can go ahead and debunk this myth because our body processes do not discriminate against any time of day to eat. Most of the time this kind of food rule continues to play with restriction (shocking)- it asks you to skip food even if you’re hungry. And over time we know this can affect your mood, your metabolism, and your relationship with food.

There is one thing to note: eating too close to bed time may affect your quality of sleep. When the body wants to fully rest, having food in the gut to digest might make someone feel more restless. So spacing out your eating an hour before bed can help avoid that. 🕰
